My Review
Epic monsters. High stakes. Political intrigue. Action. Adventure. Secrets and betrayals. This book had everything that I love in a fantasy, and I’m so glad it lived up to the hype. The sheer scale of the world and the constant sense of danger completely drew me in. It was giving Game of Thrones meets The Witcher vibes, and I’m so here for it.
I’ve disliked quite a few dual-narration audiobooks in the past, but not this one. The female narrator did a phenomenal job, and the storytelling was so good that I did not want to stop listening. We only get a brief snippet from the MMC’s point of view right at the end, so I can’t really comment on the male narrator just yet.
The story is very plot-forward, and I loved how naturally the different character relationships developed alongside the main storyline. Nothing felt rushed or forced, and everything was built up so well that when the emotional moments hit, they hit HARD.
Odessa was a breath of fresh air. Watching her confidence grow as she let go of things that were weighing her down and started making her own decisions was such a highlight. She was smart, brave, kind and her compassion for others really shone through.
And the plot twist?! Even though I had my suspicions, it still made me squeal.
Book 2 here I come!
