CROWNED BY DESTINY. CONSUMED BY VENGEANCE.
Against all odds, Meryn Cooper has inherited the crown—and a deadly war. As the Kingdom of Nocturna splinters under the weight of generations of lies, it is up to Meryn, her bonded direwolf Anassa, and their allies to bring the country back from the brink.
But the commoners, the Bonded, and the nobles are distrustful of their new queen and Meryn is caught in a deadly game of politics. Meanwhile, Meryn’s beloved younger sister, Saela, is more at risk than ever.
Confusingly, the one person Meryn can trust is Stark Therion—the dark, dangerous Alpha she thought hated her as much as she loathed him. Yet, his loyalty is unshakeable. His presence is intoxicating. And with his guidance, Meryn can seize an unthinkable level of power.
With enemies closing in and shadows stirring in her dreams, Meryn stands to lose her kingdom—and her heart.
Blood will spill. Bonds will break. Fate will be tested.
Vampires, dire wolves, feminine rage, slow-burn, magic, dual POV, alpha MMC, morally grey everyone, forced proximity, found family.
My Review
I finally get what all the hype is about.
As someone who didn’t like Dire Bound, this book had me in an absolute chokehold. It completely exceeded my expectations and now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do with myself.
Fury Bound picks up right where Dire Bound left off, throwing us straight into the action. It was such a wild ride from beginning to end and I could not put it down.
It had everything I wanted: adventure, romance, top-tier banter, delicious tension, and a plot that just kept delivering, not to mention high stakes and real consequences (cue the emotional damage). The pacing was perfect with a great balance between high intensity scenes and quieter moments, and I loved getting to learn more about the world and its history.
Meryn really came into her own in this book. She was fierce, witty and full of feminine rage. But beneath all that strength and determination, there was still so much vulnerability and that emotional depth made her feel real and relatable. I loved her relationship with Annassa and the introduction of some new characters that added even more heart to the story.
And don’t get me started on Stark. His POV added a whole new layer, giving me a much deeper understanding of his character. He’s grumpy, protective, emotionally guarded and completely devoted in a way that made me fall in love with him. The tension and banter between him and Meryn had me giggling and kicking my feet the entire time.
That ending, though? While not as cliffhanger-y (that’s a word, right?) as Dire Bound, I did not see it coming. I can’t wait for book 3!
Because I can tell, Meryn – I know what it’s like to be ruined. And kissing you tastes like leaping toward destruction.
